A BETTER LIFE
FOR ALL
Our purpose is to offer veterinary welfare services though a mobile clinic offering in partnership with Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) and private practice veterinarians to the communities in Daveyton, Gauteng, South Africa.
TAKING VETERINARY CARE
TO THE COMMUNITY
Communities in townships do not have access to veterinary care. Besides the cost of private veterinary care the taxi service does not allow animals in the vehicles. The Thanda Inja Community Outreach was initiated to address this situation by taking veterinary care to the community of Daveyton, Gauteng in Johannesburg South Africa. The Thanda Inja purpose being to sterilise animals and thereby reduce the population of animals in the community and allow for a healthy and safe environment for both humans and their pets.
STERILISATION CAMPAIGNS
Every second week the Thanda Inja Community Outreach is held in an open field in Mkalazenki in Daveyton where veterinary services are offered to the community. Sterilisation is key and animals are sterilised at every outreach. Over and above no less than three additional sterilisation campaigns are offered. One being our Mandela Day sterilisation campaign which takes place at Pug Rescue SA in Benoni across two days. On average 100 dogs and cats are sterilised at this campaign which offers low-cost sterilisations to low-income earners.
Offering veterinary clinic services ensuring sick animals receive medication required. Vaccinations with emphasis on rabies given to animals. Deworming of animals.
Free sterilisations are offered to ensure that the population of cats and dogs are under control. Two to three day sterilisation campaigns are conducted three times a year.
